The agreement between you and Aloglot for using this app.

Aloglot turns a passage into an audiobook that reads it to you in the original and in English. Using it means you accept these terms. If you do not, please do not use it.
Bring only text you have the right to bring. What comes back is made by machines and can be wrong. The app is early, it is free, and it is offered as it is.
You need to be at least 13 years old, and if you are under 18 you need a parent or guardian’s permission. If you are agreeing on behalf of an organization, you are saying you may bind it.
Your account is yours: give a real email address, keep your password to yourself, and tell us at privacy@aloglot.com if you think somebody else is using it. What happens under your account is your responsibility.
Early, and free. Making a book spends real money on a shared set of model keys, so for now only admins can start one; everything else is open to any account.
Nothing here promises the app will stay free, stay available, or keep working the way it does today. Features can change or go, and so can the whole service. If it ever costs money, you will be told before it does.
It stays yours. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of a passage you paste, and we do not use what you bring to sell anything, to train anything, or to show anybody else.
To do the one thing you are asking for, though, the app has to be allowed to handle it. So you give Aloglot permission to store your text, split it, send it to the providers named in the privacy policy, translate it, speak it, transcribe the speech, and show all of that back to you. That permission is for running the service and for nothing else, and it ends when you delete the book.
You promise you have the right to submit whatever you submit, and that having it translated and read aloud does not infringe anybody’s copyright or other rights.
That is not a formality. A translation and a recording of a book are new works made from it, and making them from a book you do not hold the rights to is the one thing this app makes easy to do by accident. Work in the public domain, work you wrote, and work you have a license for are all fine. Owning a copy of a novel is not the same as being allowed to publish a translation of it.
Write to privacy@aloglot.com and say what the work is, where in the app it appears, and how to reach you. We will look, and remove what should be removed. Accounts that make a habit of it are closed.
The translations, the clause pairings, the pronunciations, the difficulty rating and every second of the audio are generated by language models, and they can be wrong.
A mistranslation looks exactly like a translation. A model can mispronounce a name, miss a negation, flatten a joke, or invent a nuance the original does not have. The audio is synthetic speech rather than a recording of a person, and it is not a native speaker’s pronunciation.
This is an app for learning to read. Do not rely on it where being wrong matters — anything medical, legal, financial, or safety-related, and anything you would sign. Check what matters against a source you trust.
Deleting a book puts it in the trash, where you can bring it back; emptying the trash removes it and its audio for good. Archiving a book stops it generating, which is also what stops it costing anything.
You can delete your account in your settings at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that puts the service or other people at risk, or that costs more to run than the service can carry — and we will say why unless saying so would make matters worse.
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied — including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement, and any warranty that the app will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that anything it produces will be accurate. You use it at your own risk.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Aloglot is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or the cost of getting the same thing somewhere else, arising out of or relating to your use of the app — even if we were told such damages were possible.
For everything else, our total liability for all claims relating to the app is limited to the greater of what you paid to use it in the twelve months before the claim, which today is nothing, and US$100.
Some places do not allow some of these exclusions. Where that is so, they apply as far as the law there allows and no further.
You agree to cover Aloglot for claims, damages, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from the text you submitted or from your breach of these terms — in particular, a claim by somebody that a passage you brought infringed their rights.
These terms can change. If a change matters, you will be told in the app or by email before it takes effect, and using the app afterwards means accepting it. The date at the top of this page says when it last changed.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict of laws rules, and any dispute arising out of them or out of the app goes to the state or federal courts sitting there. Both of us agree to those courts.
